Perspectives on Self-Destruction in Prison and Beyond
This event explores questions of self-destruction from a non-pathologising perspective, using queer theory as a theoretical tool to examine the complex relationship between pain, self-inflicted harm, empowerment, and imprisonment. It centers the voices of individuals with lived experience of self-destruction, rather than focusing solely on professional discourses and practices.
Chair, Anastasia Chamberlen, Professor of Sociology
